Careers at MARESA

The first point of contact for Michigan's Special Education Mediation Services (SEMS), which MARESA administers for the MDE Office of Special Education. Conducts neutral intake interviews with parents and school personnel, coordinates referrals with dispute-resolution partners, and keeps accurate case records under IDEA and MARSE. Based in Lansing.

Provide direct therapy, crisis intervention, and mental health screenings to students in local school districts (about one day per week), and help school staff build plans for students' social and emotional needs. Requires a Michigan license (or limited license) as a psychologist, school psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, marriage and family therapist, or professional counselor. Compensation is set by the MEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Conduct special education eligibility evaluations, serve on IEP teams, and help lead Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) implementation across local school districts to support students' social, emotional, and educational needs. Compensation is set by the MEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Assist in the Wells Township preschool classroom, ride the district bus before and after school (Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), and provide 1:1 student support. High school diploma or GED required; 60 college credits, an associate degree, or a Michigan Title I paraprofessional certificate preferred.
